Todd Stashwick, How To Be a Villain
Todd has worked on several popular franchises including Angel, Heroes, Star Trek, Supernatural, The Originals, and most notably a 35 episode run on 12 Monkeys. Todd even also played Dr. Drakken in the live action Kim Possible. Todd has a rich background of playing villains but splits his career between comedy and villainy with lighter roles in popular franchises like How I Met your Mother, Dharma and Greg, and Will and Grace.
Todd led a 3 day Masterclass on the improv styling and technique taught at the Hot House Improv company in LA. He also helped each actor lay out a trajectory for their career and goals.
At the end of the week, our 2019-2020 class performed a live show with Todd called “Mayfly” which is a tradition for Todd dating back decades. Many of our actors formed close relationships with Todd and have a standing D&D invitation at his L.A. “Game Fortress”
Hilary Jones: Voice and Dialect
Hilary has been a member of The Centre For Voice in Performance at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland since 1996, having previously taught at a number of major UK drama schools, including Central, RWCMD, Rose Bruford and GSA. Hilary has worked with several A list stars on dialect and vocal training including James McAvoy and Glenn Close.
Hilary led our actors through several regional dialects that are very common in Film, TV, and Video Games in the current market. Hilary guided our students in the proper ways to prepare a dialect as well as how various conditions of a region can affect a local dialect.
By the end of our Masterclass, each student had a professionally coached dialect monologue and a deeper understanding of the tools to approach accent work in the future.
Lane Savadove: Viewpoints
Lane Savadove has been directing and teaching nationally and internationally for over 20 years. Savadove has worked and trained closely with innovators Judith Malina at The Living Theater, Lee Breur at Mabou Mines, Ping Chong, and Anne Bogart of SITI Company. In 1993, Savadove founded the award winning repertory company, EgoPo Classic Theater, and continues as its Artistic Director. Lane is a multiaward winning director and former faculty member of the Tisch School of the Arts.
Lane is considered one of the few masters in the entire world of the Viewpoints Movement style and lead our intensive through the core practices of Viewpoints. Our performers were able to unlock a deeper understanding of movement and expression through a horizontal approach to the self not found in other acting techniques. It is truly an experience that you need to see to believe.
Jason Kirkpatrick: Chekhov
Jason Kirkpatrick is most known for his roles in The Walking Dead, Outer Banks, The Hunt, Deepwater Horizon, and Mudbound. Jason is a world class actor and well known practitioner of the Chekhov style of acting.
Jason focused his Masterclass on the techniques of Chekhov and on harnessing emotion through breath. The three day program was the most emotionally intense of all the Masterclasses this year and led to amazing developments in all of our performers.
Jason was so thrilled to be involved in the Super Hero Training Center that he graciously opted to join us full time as our Acting Technique teacher and will be available for the 2020-2021 program.
